cleaning the house

The average American spends 6 hours a week cleaning their home. The number goes up if they have kids; parents spend an additional hour each week ensuring their home is spic and span.

However, the same survey revealed that many Americans are unsure if they are cleaning their homes correctly.

In this article, we'll discuss how you can clean the house more effectively.

Read the rest of this article for more information, and then get your cleaning products ready to give the house a spruce up.

1. Clean Up Your Clutter

If you've ever heard wealthy people say they need to clean for the maid, this is what they're talking about. And if you're lucky enough to have been able to afford a cleaning person, you already know this tip.

Before you deep clean, you need to clean up your clutter. This may also involve moving heavier items to get in the deep nooks and crannies of the house. After all, dust does build up under the couch and behind the end table, even if you're not looking for it.

If you don't have time to do everything or struggle with fatigue or a disability, clean your clutter a day or two before you do the deep clean. That way, it will be ready for you when you are. But of course, don't wait too long, or you'll get even more dirt and grime building up behind those pieces.

2. Use Electric Brushes to Deep Clean

What a machine-powered electric brush can do in a few minutes could take you hours to scrub. While we don't promise they can solve all of your cleaning problems, they make it easier.

You can order cleaning brushes online at almost any online retailer that sells cleaning tools. Most of them have brushes you can change and flexible lengths so that you can use them on the floor without having to bend over.

Spray some of our Nano Clean and Degrease on the surface and then go over it with an electric brush. You'll see sparkly results.

However, an electric brush isn't meant for surfaces like tables and countertops. Our towels are a better match for those.

3. Encourage Routines That Keep Your House Clean

If you have a family or roommates, consider asking everyone to follow a few simple rules. After every use, spray the shower or bathtub and use one of our towels with a quick swipe. This will prevent grime from building up around the tub.

You can also encourage this after eating or washing the dishes. This way, you won't need to worry about deep cleaning as often.

4. Keep Your Cleaning Tools Clean

It sounds a little cliche, but if you're living on your own for the first time, you may not realize that you need to keep items like the vacuum cleaner clean. You'll need to empty your vacuum bag and wash your sponges or towels every so often. If you use electric brushes, make sure to run them underneath water after every use.

5. Vacuum in Rows

To keep high traffic areas clean, vacuum at least once a week. Instead of vacuuming haphazardly, vacuum in rows. This ensures that you get every area, and you can see the areas you missed. You'll get a spotless-looking carpet every time.

6. Use White Vinegar on Mineral Deposits

Your plumbing fixtures will no doubt get hard water and mineral deposit stains on them over time. Use one of our towels to scrub away the stains with white vinegar gently. This will help keep your plumbing fixtures shiny without having to scrub them over and over and seeing no results.

7. Sweep or Vacuum Before You Mop

This one is kind of like the clear the clutter before you deep clean suggestion. You'll need to clear the area before you deep clean with a mob or other cleaning tool. Use a broom to sweep the area or vacuum the floor first. This will get all of the dirt off the floor so you can then get to scrubbing or mopping the floor.

8. How to Clean the Microwave

The microwave can be tricky to clean, and if you use it a lot, there is probably a lot of baked-on food inside. To prevent this, have everyone cover their food with a paper towel or microwavable cover so that you don't have to clean further.

However, if you're trying to clean baked-on food, you can do this by taking a mug of hot water and warming it up for a minute. This helps moisten up the microwave so that you can then wipe everything away.

If you have severely baked-on food, try putting some vinegar and lemon in the water before you microwave it.

If that doesn't work, try it again and clean as much as possible before trying the trick again. It may take a few tries, but it will get everything off eventually.
