What Gets Rid of Coronavirus on Shipped Packages? How to Disinfect

Purbloc Blogger • Jun 01, 2020

It's safer to order food and supplies for home delivery. There's still a risk, though. In this article, we'll tell you what gets rid of coronavirus on packages.

Coronavirus is infecting millions of people worldwide in a pandemic unlike anything we've seen in the last few decades.

No one expected 2020 to pan out this way, but here we are! Now all you can do is adjust to new life and do your best to keep yourselves and those around you safe. One of the ways to do that is by shopping online instead of in-store, but that doesn't always keep you out of harm's way.

When you get your deliveries, you need to make sure they're clear of coronavirus. This isn't always simple but it's definitely worth taking the extra steps to keep your household safe.

Take a look at our guide on what gets rid of coronavirus and how to have safe deliveries.

Keep Your Deliveries Contact Free

Whether you're receiving Amazon delivery boxes or food order, the first thing to do is keep your deliveries free of any contact. Most delivery companies are already practising this, but you have to comply too for a safe delivery.

When your delivery arrives, the driver should drop your parcel outside by your door. They should ring the bell to let you know its there and then make their way back to their car or van. Once they've left, you can then go outside to collect your delivery.

If your driver isn't complying, let them know that you'll open the door once they're gone, letting them know through the door or from a window.

What About Payments?

It's best to pay for your deliveries before they arrive to help keep the whole process contact-free. If this isn't possible, use a contactless card to pay. If you don't have one, you can set up Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay on your phone.

All you have to do to pay is unlock your phone and hold it over the card reader. It'll instantly transfer the money and you'll stay contact-free!

Never use cash when paying for deliveries. This is an easy way to spread the virus and should always be avoided.

Keep the Package Outside

If your package does have the virus on it, avoid infecting your home by leaving it outside. If you have a covered area, ask the delivery driver to leave the parcel there to avoid it being rained on or becoming too hot. When you're ready, go outside to deal with it and never take any of the packagings indoors.

What If You Have to Bring It In?

If you can't leave your package outside, wear gloves as you move it in or sanitize your hands thoroughly before and after touching it. Set the parcel on a towel that you can wash immediately after you've sorted through your parcel.

Remove the contents and lay them aside ready for sanitization. Dispose of the packaging as quickly as possible.

Once your parcel is safe, throw your towels straight in the washing machine, throw away your gloves, and clean the area. You should also use Nano Clean Air to help minimize the airborne spread of the virus, keeping your home virus-free.

Leave it For a Day

If you have an Amazon food box or something you need immediately, you'll have to deal with the parcel quickly. But if it's a non-perishable item that you can wait for, do! By leaving your parcel, the virus will die off before you even touch it.

Most deliveries come in cardboard boxes, which is good news. Whilst some other materials can harbour coronavirus for many days, it seems to disappear on cardboard within just 24 hours! Try and leave your package untouched for a day for a much safer delivery.

Get Rid of Packaging Quickly

If you're wondering what to do with Amazon boxes and other delivery packaging, you should get rid of it as quickly as possible. Even if you leave it for 24 hours, it's still best to chuck any packaging in the recycling as soon as it's been opened. This will minimize the time you spend near it and keep everyone else in your home out of harm's way.

Sanitize Your Hands After Unboxing

Every time you handle a box that's from outside your home, you need to sanitize your hands. You've been told it a million times but it's the best way to keep yourself coronavirus free, so remember to do it!

As you unpack your box, keep a bottle of Nano Clean close by. When you dispose of the outer packaging, sanitize your hands before touching what's inside to avoid spreading the virus throughout the contents. You should also sanitize them once you've finished with your delivery completely and before you touch anything else around your home.

Worried About Possible Coronavirus On Packages? We Recommend These Steps

Once you've dealt with the packaging, it's time to clean the contents! If it's wrapped, spray mail with Nano Clean initially to give it a quick clean. Unwrap the packages and clean more carefully with Nano Clean Concentrate and a microfiber cloth

The Nano Clean products are designed to clean at a nano level, helping to prevent the spread of infectious microorganisms, making them ideal for keeping your home safe. It's an easy way to thoroughly sanitize your surfaces, making it ideal for cleaning deliveries.

Once everything's clean, you can put it away in your home. Remember to clean your hands, too! Use an antibacterial soap and warm water, following the proper instructions given by healthcare professionals.

Keep Clean, Keep Safe!

It doesn't look as though COVID-19 is going to disappear anytime soon, so the best we can all do is keep clean and remember what gets rid of coronavirus. It's a hard time, but if we all try our best we can get back to normal much quicker!
